Cloudy Opening

2009 Sep - Acrylic Painting

Commissioned piece for a friend, Kristen, who wanted something whimsical.

Image was inspired by the cloudy skies outside my kitchen window, as the neighbouring buildings and tree foliage form a narrow opening which reveals the sky.

Here the opening seem more punctuated and surreal but also very much apart of the surrounds. The creature comes from a ToToRo tradition of awkwardness. The Balloon symbolises the release of hope from the familiar into the openness of the unknown.
