Commissioned piece for my friend Wei's dental surgery. The image was to fill a spot on her wall which faced the patient as they sat down.
The colour scheme was "blue" but I steered towards more icy colours due to her love for the snow.
The abstract shapes are inspired from the lines of skiers on the slopes. The colours begin to blur, suggesting a mountain range overcast with clouds.
The square "windows" were inserted towards the end of the painting to throw a rigid imbalance to the flow of the lighter tones. The windows are raised with more Impasto with the aim of suggesting something darker which looms "beneath".
The painting also uses reflective silver accents and undercoats which changes its character depending the time of day and vantage point.
